International Turkic Culture and Heritage Foundation publishes book "Stories" by Ömer Seyfettin

Published by the International Turkic Culture and Heritage Foundation, the book "Stories" by Ömer Seyfettin, one of the distinguished representatives of Turkish literature, has been presented in German in Vienna within the framework of the project "Literary Bridge Connecting the Turkic world".

Held at the Yunus Emre Institute in Vienna, the event was jointly organized by the Foundation, the embassies of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Republic of Türkiye to the Republic of Austria.

The presentation was attended by President of the International Turkic Culture and Heritage Foundation Gunay Afandiyeva, Ambassador of the Republic of Azerbaijan to Austria Rovshan Sadigbayli, Ambassador of the Republic of Türkiye to Austria Ozan Jeyhun, director of the Vienna Yunus Emre Institute Ayşe Yorulmaz, writer-researcher Orkhan Araz, Erciyes University professor Hulya Argunshah and others.

Speaking at the event, Ambassador of the Republic of Türkiye to Austria Ozan Ceyhun said that Ömer Seyfettin, who made considerable contributions to the development of Turkic literature, is one of the important representatives of the short story genre and played a special role in the formation of the national language and the literature that developed from this language in Türkiye during the transition from empire to republic.

In her speech, President of the International Turkic Culture and Heritage Foundation Gunay Afandiyeva said that they met Austrian readers with literary pearls that unite the Turkic world. The President of the Foundation noted that Ömer Seyfettin, who left a strong mark in literature with his short stories, tried to master the Turkish language through his works and literary activity in general, and was one of the founders and pioneers of the Turkic movement. Gunay Afandiyeva stressed that the International Turkic Culture and Heritage Foundation has implemented projects to promote the literary heritage of prominent figures of the Turkic world in the international arena and expressed that it is passed down from generation to generation.

At the event, Orkhan Araz, a researcher and writer who has lived in Germany for many years, Herman Kohl, a translator, and Professor Hulya Argunshah, a lecturer at the Erciyes University of Türkiye known for her scientific articles about Ömer Seyfettin, stressed the great contribution to Turkic literature made by the prominent author, despite him living for only 36 years, and highly appreciated the efforts of the International Turkic Culture and Heritage Foundation to promote Turkic literature in Europe once again.

The presentation featured a documentary film dedicated to the life and work of Ömer Seyfettin, shot by TRT under the auspices of the Foundation. The program ended with the beautiful performance of selected pearls of Turkic culture by People's Artist of Azerbaijan Mehriban Zaki.
