Azerbaijani delegation attends ICOM’s 26th General Conference 

An Azerbaijani delegation is attending the 26th edition of the General Conference of the International Council of Museums titled “The Power of Museums”, in Prague, the Czech Republic.

During the conference, Director of the Azerbaijan National Carpet Museum, Chair of ICOM Azerbaijan National Committee Shirin Malikova first presented the Triennial Report on the ICOM Azerbaijan National Committee’s activities. She also touched upon the “Inclusive museum” project launched by the Azerbaijan National Carpet Museum.

Malikova also highlighted the events and innovations implemented in 2019-2021, the organization of virtual museum tours and online activity of the museums in Azerbaijan during the quarantine period from 2020 to 2021, as well as the awareness-raising campaigns launched during the 44-day Patriotic War.

The 26th ICOM General Conference will wrap up on August 28.

Over 3,000 museum professionals will take a deep dive into the most pressing issues of the global museum sector, participating in 140 sessions, panels, workshops and parallel conferences. ICOM Prague 2022 will also be a unique occasion to discover the vibrant cultural landscape of the Czech capital.

Since 1948, every three years, ICOM gathers the international museum community around a theme of crucial interest to facilitate cultural exchange, to promote international cooperation, and to inspire local actions in order to allow museums to continue their public service mission to the society.
