Azerbaijan puts temporary restrictions on access to TikTok

Domestic access to TikTok in Azerbaijan is temporarily restricted, the country's State Security Service said in a statement on Wednesday, AzVision.az reports.

"On September 12-13 of this year, our Armed Forces took retaliatory measures against large-scale provocations committed by the Armenian Armed Forces on the Azerbaijani-Armenian border. Currently, the TikTok social network resource is distributing reports that overshadow our army's successes and circulating information containing military secrets, pursuing the goal of forming a wrong opinion in society. In this regard, it was decided to temporarily restrict the activities of the TikTok social network on the territory of Azerbaijan, for which a petition was submitted to the relevant agencies," the statement said.

The State Security Service urged Azerbaijani citizens not to believe inaccurate reports shared on other social media sources aiming to cause public panic and to refer only to official data of state bodies.
