UN Resident Coordinator: Violence against women and girls remains most pervasive human rights violation worldwide

“The 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence is an annual campaign that begins on 25 November, the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women and girls and runs through International Human Rights Day on 10 December. Violence against women and girls remains the most pervasive human rights violation worldwide, affecting more than 1 in 3 women, a figure that has remained largely unchanged over the last decade,” UN Resident Coordinator in Azerbaijan Vladanka Andreeva said in a video message on the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, AzVision.az reports.

“The theme of the 2022 campaign is “UNiTE! Activism to End Violence against Women & Girls!”

The UN family in Azerbaijan has joined hands with the State Committee for Family, Women, and Children Affairs, development partners, academia, and civil society and during these 16 days, we will visit 16 regions of Azerbaijan to raise awareness, support survivors, reject misogyny and mobilize transformative action to end violence against women and girls.

Let’s take a stand and raise our voices in support of women’s rights. Let’s put an end to violence against women and girls,” she said.
