“Currently, we assume that the airspace of Ukraine and Russia remains closed until the end of the planning horizon (2029),” reads the message. Eurocontrol notes that the number of flights through Northern Europe from Asia has decreased, as it was necessary to redirect routes through the South-Eastern countries.
Eurocontrol also emphasizes that the air travel industry continues to recover from the coronavirus pandemic.
After the outbreak of hostilities in Ukraine on February 24, many Western countries closed their airspace to Russian aircraft.
