Azerbaijan`s State Committee for Refugees and IDPs, WB sign grant agreement

The Azerbaijan`s State Committee for Refugees and IDPs and the World Bank have signed a letter agreement for the Improved Livelihoods for Internally Displaced Persons in Azerbaijan Project.

The document was signed by the Chairman of the Committee Rovshan Rzayev and WB Country Manager for Azerbaijan, Europe and Central Asia Sarah Michael.

The objective of the project is to enhance civic engagement, technical skills, and opportunities for income generation for vulnerable IDP households in Azerbaijan who are supposed to be resettled in Karabakh and Eastern Zangazur in 2023-2026 in accordance with the First State Program on Great Return to the liberated territories of Azerbaijan.

The project, which will last for 36 months, is planned to involve 520 beneficiaries in 18 cities and regions, directly covering the same number of families, and more than 2,500 unemployed people in total. According to the grant project, preference will be given to internally displaced persons who are currently identified as a vulnerable category due to their living conditions.
