WhatsApp to come with new ‘chat list filter’ feature

WhatsApp is set to enhance user experience with an upcoming feature that allows filtering of conversations directly within the chat list.

The latest update, version 2.23.14.17, being rolled out through the Google Play Beta Program, provides a glimpse of this new functionality, AzVision.az reports citing Gizmochina.

Streamlining Conversation Organization on WhatsApp

Previously, WhatsApp introduced a bottom navigation bar in its beta for Android 2.23.10.6 update. Now, the focus is on refining the app’s interface and tools. In response to user feedback, WhatsApp is addressing the challenge of accessing the filtering feature, which was not very user-friendly in the current implementation.

The new feature aims to make filtering conversations more convenient by placing the filter button directly in the chat list. This update aligns with a concept previously shared by users, further emphasizing the significance of improving the accessibility of this feature within the chat list.

In the upcoming update, WhatsApp plans to introduce three filters at the top of the chat list. These filters will enable users to organize their chats based on unread messages, personal conversations, and business-related chats. Notably, the absence of a dedicated filter for group chats is currently noticeable. Given the importance of group chats for many WhatsApp users, it would be beneficial to have a dedicated filter to streamline access to these conversations. While this specific filter is missing in the current development stage, it is hoped that WhatsApp will consider adding it in a future update.

The ability to filter the chat list is currently under development, and WhatsApp users can expect this feature to be available in an upcoming update. Additionally, WhatsApp is also working on other features, including rounded alerts for a more modern appearance, high-quality video-sharing capabilities, and they have also recently introduced a secure local chat transfer feature via QR code.
