"Iran realizes its responsibility and will act responsibly. Naturally, the embassy of this country (Azerbaijan in Tehran - IF) will be protected as much as possible," Naser Kanaani said on Monday, quoted by Iran's Tasnim Agency, Interfax-Azerbaijan reports.
As previously reported, on January 27, 2023, at about 8:30 Baku time an armed attack was committed on the Azerbaijani Embassy in Iran, as a result of which the head of the security service of the diplomatic mission was killed and two more employees were wounded.
After the incident, which was qualified by the country's President Ilham Aliyev as a terrorist act, the Azerbaijani authorities decided to evacuate all employees of the embassy in Tehran and their family members. The evacuation was carried out on January 29.
Currently, only the Consulate General of Azerbaijan in Tabriz is functioning.
