The issue of “humanitarian aid” to Karabakh became more politicized and corrupt after Nikol Pashinyan came to power. The main reason behind the fact that Armenian diaspora organizations turned away from Pashinyan is the lack of information about the fate of 170 million US dollars allocated in aid for Karabakh.
Official data suggest that the products worth 8 million US dollars provided as part of this “humanitarian aid” are currently being stored in warehouses in Armenia. Over the past two and a half years, Pashinyan has banned the delivery of these products to Karabakh. The Armenian premier also accused the “Hayastan” foundation of corruption and ordered the arrest of its director for embezzling the foundation’s assets and losing them in gambling.
The “Hayastan” foundation’s assets were then transferred to the state budget, a certain part of which was spent for Pashinyan’s interests. After all, the approach of Pashinyan and his team to the issue of “humanitarian aid” to Karabakh is a typical example of Armenian hypocrisy.
Armenian diaspora organizations joining political campaigns called “Aid to Karabakh” is regrettable. It is of paramount importance for the international community to be well-informed about this issue. The best way to prevent Pashinyan from stealing humanitarian aid to Karabakh Armenians is to use the Azerbaijan-offered Aghdam road. Humanitarian aid can also be delivered to Karabakh through Zangilan and Fuzuli airports.
As a first step, Turkish Armenians can send aid to Karabakh via Agdam. Turkish Armenians are wealthy people with a somewhat different mindset. They are also protected by the Turkish state. It will not be difficult for them to send aid to Karabakh. Türkiye’s relevant bodies can even help them in this matter.
The Azerbaijani diaspora can also provide Karabakh Armenians with humanitarian aid. The State Committee of Azerbaijan for Diaspora Affairs and the government of Azerbaijan, in general, should consider its comprehensive participation in this issue. It is also possible to place the humanitarian aid sent by Azerbaijanis living around the world in the geographically closest area to the Karabakh Armenians. They can take or buy the necessary products from there.
The most important task of Azerbaijanis living around the world should be to inform the governments of the countries where they live about the fate of aid to Karabakh through Armenia.
Pashinyan's thieving and corrupt team wants to embezzle the money of Armenians living in different parts of the world. The Pashinyan administration is not interested in the fate of 120,000, but in reality 25,000-30,000 Armenians living in Karabakh.
