Western Azerbaijan Community urges PACE not to become tool in Armenia

The Western Azerbaijan Community condemns the biased statement of Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) President Tiny Kox on July 31 and calls on the assembly not to become a tool in Armenia's insidious games, but to preserve its independence.

In a statement in response to the remarks of the PACE president, the community emphasised that the issue of supplying Armenians living in Azerbaijan’s Karabakh region is a provocation by Armenia to mislead the international community, AzVision.az reports.

“Thus, at the behest of Armenia, a group of separatist criminals blocked roads from other regions of Azerbaijan to Armenian-populated areas in the Karabakh region, demanding exclusive routes for uncontrolled supplies from Armenia. They also blocked the Aghdam-Khankandi road with concrete blocks, distributed video footage of the road blocking and stated that they would not allow this road to be used for supplies.

Therefore, the fact-finding mission mentioned by Tiny Kox should not be sent to Azerbaijan, which is determined to reintegrate the Armenians living in Karabakh, but to Armenia, which has expelled Western Azerbaijanis and denies their right to return,” the statement noted.

The community reminded Kox that the PACE Co-Chairs on Armenia have not yet responded to the letter addressed to them by the Western Azerbaijan Community on March 1.

“The Western Azerbaijan Community, which promotes the ideas of peace and peaceful coexistence, calls on Tiny Kox not to approach the issue of human rights through the prism of double standards, but to support our proposal on dialogue with Armenia and return to the homeland of our ancestors," the statement reads.
