Azerpost LLC under the Ministry of Digital Development and Transport has issued a postage stamp dedicated to the FIDE World Cup 2023 held in Baku.
The postage stamps in a block form were issued with a circulation of 4,000 copies. They were sealed by Azerpost LLC Chairman of Board Afgan Jalilov and President of the Azerbaijan Chess Federation, Vice-President of the International Chess Federation (FIDE) Mahir Mammadov.
The FIDE World Cup 2023 started on July 30 and will run until August 25.
Organized for the 10th time, 309 chess players are participating in the open section. Azerbaijani chess player Nijat Abbasov, as one of the four strongest participants of the World Cup, reached the semifinals of the competition.
