Azerbaijan detains former Karabakh separatist leaders

Azerbaijan has detained the former leaders of the illegal separatist regime in its Karabakh region.

The State Security Service of Azerbaijan detained and transferred to Baku the so-called “ex-presidents” of the illegal separatist regime in Karabakh, Arkady Gukasyan (1997-2007) and Bako Sahakyan (2007-2020). David Ishkhanyan, who was the so-called “representative” of the Dashnaks in Karabakh and former “parliament speaker” of the separatist regime, has also been detained and brought to Baku, AzVision.az reports.

The detainees accused of numerous crimes will stand trial in Azerbaijan.

It is worth noting that after Azerbaijan’s victory in the Second Karabakh War in 2020, in accordance with the tripartite statement, the Russian military contingent controlled these territories and the Lachin road.

Later, Azerbaijan took decisive steps and destroyed all the insidious plans of the separatists.

Following the results of local anti-terrorist measures carried out by the Azerbaijani army on September 19-20, the separatist regime raised the white flag and announced its self-dissolution.
