SOCAR Turkey Enerji: Petkim container port construction to start soon
Petkim container port construction is expected to start on November 13, head of SOCAR Turkey Enerji, a board member of Petkim Petrochemical Holding Kenan Yavuz told, Anadolu agency reported on Saturday.
According to Yavuz, on the same day it is also expected to open Heydar Aliyev Technical and Industrial school.
SOCAR Turkey Enerji reported earlier that construction of the port is one of the rapidly implemented projects in Turkey.
According to him, agreement was reached with the Danish and Dutch companies on the construction of a new port.
The head of SOCAR Turkey Enerjy stressed that the port will belong to Turkey, but the Danish and Dutch companies will operate the port for 30 years.
It is expected that construction of the port will be completed in 2015, and the project will cost $ 400 million, he said.
Earlier, Turkish petrochemical complex Petkim has signed an agreement with Dutch company APM Terminals on construction of a container port with the capacity of 1.5 million TEU.
Investment in the construction of the new port will be completed in 2014. During the management of the port by APM Terminals its capacity will exceed the capacity of the port Aslandzhak by about 50 percent. Depending on the needs of the market, its capacity will be increased to three million TEU.
APM Terminals Company will have the right to manage the port during 28 years. Until 2014 the volume of investments in the development of the terminal will be $350-400 million.
