China integrates AI into undergraduate studies

China announced on Tuesday that it will update its undergraduate studies program by integrating Artificial Intelligence (AI), AzVision.az reports, citing Anadolu Agency.

The Education Ministry is introducing 29 new academic majors in emerging fields such as AI and low-altitude economy. These new programs will be part of this year’s college entrance examinations, according to an official statement of the ministry.

The aim of these additional majors is to meet market demand, technology and development needs, in line with Beijing's national strategies, the statement said.

The added programs include specialties such as regional and country studies, carbon neutrality science and engineering, marine science and technology, and healthcare security.

To keep pace with developments in cutting-edge technologies, new programs like intelligent molecular engineering, medical devices and equipment engineering, and spatiotemporal information engineering have also been added to the curriculum catalogue.

Market-driven majors like international cruise management and aviation sports have been established to better align with industry demands.

New programs centered on the role of AI in driving economic and social progress, such as AI education, intelligent audiovisual engineering, and digital drama, have also been introduced.
