  Azerbaijan, Algeria hold political consultations

The second meeting of political consultations between the Foreign Affairs Ministry of Azerbaijan and the Foreign Affairs Ministry of Algeria was held in the city of Algiers.

The political consultations were led by Deputy Foreign Minister Yalchin Rafiyev from the Azerbaijani side, and Secretary General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Lounes Magraman from the Algerian side, AzVision.az reports, citing the Foreign Ministry.

During the consultations, a broad exchange of views was held on the current state and future development prospects of bilateral political, economic, trade, and inter-parliamentary relations. It was noted that there are extensive opportunities for cooperation between the two countries in the oil and gas sector, as well as in renewable energy.

Opportunities for expanding mutual cooperation in multilateral formats, especially within international organizations, including the UN, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, and the Non-Aligned Movement, were discussed. It was especially noted that Azerbaijan's hosting of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation summit in 2026 is an important event, and that Azerbaijan's reputation and rich experience in hosting international events creates confidence in the successful organization of the mentioned summit.

The Algerian side was informed about the post-conflict situation and peace process, including restoration and construction work in the liberated territories, demining of Azerbaijani territories, and the return of Azerbaijani citizens to their native lands.

During the political consultations, the parties exchanged views on regional and international issues of mutual interest.

During the visit, Yalchin Rafiyev was also received by Algeria's Minister of Foreign Affairs, National Community Abroad and African Affairs, Ahmed Attaf. At the meeting, satisfaction was expressed with the development dynamics of political relations between Azerbaijan and Algeria, and the necessity of expanding cooperation in the economic, trade, and investment fields between the two countries was emphasized.

During his visit, the Deputy Minister became acquainted with the National Mujahideen Museum of Algeria. During the museum tour, information was provided about the Algerian people's resistance movement against colonialism.
