General Secretary of the International Youth Union (IYU) "Great Silk Road" Ayten Aliyeva has attended and delivered a speech at the World Youth Development Forum held in capital Beijing, China.
The main goal of the forum themed “Youth Strength for Solidarity and Innovation: Striving Together for Sustainable Development” is to promote the role of youth in implementation of the UN Sustainable Development goals and contribute to global development and global efforts.
The forum was opened by Vice-Chairman of China International Development Cooperation Agency (CIDCA) Deng Boqing, as well as Assistant Director-General for the Social & Human Sciences of UNESCO Gabriela Ramos, Regional Director for UNFPA Asia and the Pacific Aleksandar Sasha Bodiroza, Global Head of UNICEF program “Generation Unlimited” Urmila Sarkar, and the resident representative of the United Nations Development Programme in China Beate Trankmann. The speakers drew the participants` attention to the role of young people in solving international problems.
In her speech, Aytan Aliyeva highlighted the cooperation opportunities created by the "One Belt, One Road" initiative for the youth and youth organizations of the countries along the Silk Road, as well as the role of the youth in the exchange of international experience and ideas, and the strategic importance of Azerbaijan in the new Silk Road.
As part of the forum, the thematic forums on Digital Development, as well as on Youth Development-Oriented Cities, on Response to Climate and Food Crisis, on Cultural Innovation, and the Youth Expo on Action Plan for Global Youth Development were also held.
