Baku hosts NAM conference on rights and empowerment of women

The Non-Aligned Movement Conference on Advancing the Rights and Empowerment of Women is being held in Baku.

The conference is jointly organized by the Republic of Azerbaijan, as the current chairman of the Non-Aligned Movement, as well as by Uganda and Uzbekistan, as the next chairmen of the organization.

The event is held on the basis of initiatives announced by the President of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, at the ministerial-level meeting of the Non-Aligned Movement Coordination Bureau in July of this year.

Within the framework of the Non-Aligned Movement, ideas will be exchanged on topics such as the development of women's rights and the empowerment of women, as well as their important role in sustainable development, economic growth, peace and security issues, and other areas.

About 60 delegations, including representatives of the member countries of the Non-Aligned Movement, as well as states with observer status under the organization, international organizations, as well as high-ranking officials invited as special guests, are participating in the event.
