President of Azerbaijan met with Prime Minister of Bangladesh in Munich

On February 17, Bangladeshi Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina met with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev in Munich.

During their meeting, Sheikh Hasina recalled her visit to Azerbaijan for the Non-Aligned Movement Summit and congratulated President Aliyev on his recent election victory.

President Aliyev expressed his gratitude for the congratulations.

The Bangladeshi Prime Minister also congratulated Azerbaijan on hosting the upcoming COP29 climate conference, acknowledging that her own country is also grappling with the effects of global climate change.

In response, President Aliyev emphasized Azerbaijan's commitment to strengthening solidarity between developing and developed nations during COP29. He also highlighted the potential for his country's chairmanship of the Non-Aligned Movement, Organization of Islamic Cooperation, and its relations with European institutions to further bolster this solidarity.

President Aliyev went on to extend an invitation to Prime Minister Hasina to participate in COP29, which she gladly accepted.

The meeting explored potential avenues for cooperation between Bangladesh and Azerbaijan in various sectors, including politics, economics, trade, investments, pharmaceuticals, and agriculture. Both leaders acknowledged the significant potential for expanding their bilateral relationship.

Additional points discussed included the establishment of a working group on Azerbaijan-Bangladesh economic cooperation, the development of business-to-business ties, and the creation of a political consultation mechanism between the foreign ministries and relevant state institutions of both countries.
