Moratinos congratulated President Aliyev on his victory in the presidential elections and his appointment as chairman of COP29. President Aliyev thanked him for the congratulations.
Moratinos highlighted Azerbaijan's significant progress and its successful chairmanship of the Non-Aligned Movement. He expressed his satisfaction with the cooperation between the UN Alliance of Civilizations and Azerbaijan and his gratitude for their support.
The discussion also covered plans to hold events for World Religious Leaders within COP29 to support the fight against climate change. The activities of the Nizami Ganjavi International Center were praised, with recognition of its emergence as a leading international platform. It was reported that the XI Global Baku Forum will feature a diverse range of participants from across the globe, where they will discuss pressing issues.
The meeting emphasized the successful hosting of the Intercultural Dialogue Forum in Azerbaijan and the commitment to continue this tradition. It was noted that the UN Alliance of Civilizations has consistently been a supportive partner of the Intercultural Dialogue Forum.
Finally, the conversation addressed growing concerns about Islamophobia in European countries.
