Azerbaijan, Kyrgyzstan explore prospects for interparliamentary cooperation

Speaker of the Jogorku Kenesh of the Kyrgyz Republic Nurlanbek Shakiev has met with Azerbaijani ambassador to the country Latif Gandilov.

The meeting discussed development of political, economic, cultural and humanitarian relations between the two countries, as well as prospects for interparliamentary cooperation.

Stressing that Kyrgyzstan pays a special attention to development of relations with Azerbaijan, Nurlanbek Shakiyev added: "We are brotherly nations with the shared history, language, culture, and moral values. We must reinforce cooperation across all domains, and cultivate partnership based on friendship. You, as the ambassador possess an exceptional role in this matter."

The speaker described the parliamentary diplomacy as a principal bridge of friendship in strengthening relations, by saying: "In recent years, our interparliamentary cooperation has been fruitfully developing, while the agreements reached between our countries are being thrivingly implemented."

The ambassador, in turn, quoted President Ilham Aliyev as saying: "The Turkic world is our family", emphasising that Azerbaijan is interested in enhancing relations with all sister countries, including Kyrgyzstan.

Latif Gandilov mentioned the agreements reached between the two countries and the issues explored.
