Azerbaijan, Tajikistan moot investments in aluminum industry

Tajik Ambassador to Azerbaijan Ilhom Abdurahmon and Executive Director of Azerbaijan Investment Company OJSC (AIC) Ulvi Mansurov discussed investment in Tajikistan's aluminum industry, AzVision.az reports.

“During the meeting, the parties addressed the potential of cooperation in the commercial, economic, and investment domains, as well as opportunities for investment and expansion of direct cooperation with TALCO OJSC (Tajik Aluminum Company), and expressed their willingness to strengthen further cooperation,” the information says.

Additionally, in November, Tajik Economic Development and Trade Minister Zavqizoda Zavqi and Azerbaijani Economy Minister Mikail Jabbarov signed agreements on major investment projects. Among them was an investment agreement under which Azerbaijan will invest in increasing the production capacity of TALCO.

TALCO is the largest aluminum plant in the country. Its design capacity is 517,000 tons of aluminum per year.

To note, according to the State Customs Committee of Azerbaijan, the trade turnover between Azerbaijan and Tajikistan in 2023 amounted to $6.1 million, which is 2.98 percent higher than in 2022 ($5.9 million).
