Representatives of CIS IPA to observe parliamentary election in Azerbaijan

Inter-Parliamentary Assembly of the Commonwealth of Independent States (IPA CIS) monitors will be in Azerbaijan on September 1, 2024, for the extraordinary elections to the Azerbaijani Parliament, the statement of press service of the Inter-Parliamentary Assembly of the Commonwealth of Independent States said, AzVision.az reports.

According to the information, the group of observers from IPA CIS will be headed by the vice-speaker of the Federation Council of Russia Konstantin Kosachev.

His candidacy was proposed by Federation Council Speaker Valentina Matvienko at a meeting of the CIS IPA Council.

On June 28, President Ilham Aliyev signed a decree dissolving the sixth convocation of the Azerbaijani Parliament and calling for an extraordinary election.

The snap parliamentary election in Azerbaijan is scheduled for September 1, 2024.
