On August 14, the Head of the Office of the Azerbaijan's Milli Majlis (parliament) Farid Hajiyev met with a delegation led by the Head of the Office of the Senate of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan Maxim Spotkay, The Milli Majlis' press service reported.
Farid Hajiyev shared his opinion on the centuries-old friendly and fraternal relations between the Azerbaijani and Kazakh peoples, based on deep roots. Noting that after our countries gained independence, bilateral relations have become even stronger, the Head of the Office emphasized the exceptional role of heads of state in developing relations, and noted the importance of mutual visits at the highest and high levels, ongoing negotiations, and regular meetings.
Speaking about the full restoration of Azerbaijan's sovereignty as a result of the 44-day Patriotic War and successful local anti-terrorist measures carried out by the Azerbaijani Armed Forces last year, Farid Hajiyev thanked the Kazakh side for its fair position on the issue of Azerbaijan's territorial integrity. He noted with satisfaction the participation of the President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and the President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev in the opening ceremony of the Kurmangazy Children's Art Center, a gift from the Kazakh people, built in the city of Fizuli, liberated from occupation in March of this year.
The delegation was also informed about the structure of the Milli Majlis and its Office, the electoral system in the country, the lawmaking process, existing committees and commissions, party representation, and the external relations of the parliament. Farid Hajiyev shared his thoughts on preparations for the upcoming snap elections to the Milli Majlis on September 1.
At the meeting it was said that Azerbaijan, as in all spheres, is extremely interested in developing inter-parliamentary relations. The role of mutual visits of the chairmen of parliaments, held at various times during negotiations in the development of bilateral relations, was noted, and there was expressed satisfaction with the fruitful cooperation of the parliaments of the countries in international organizations. The importance of deepening cooperation between the parliamentary offices was particularly emphasized. The guest, in turn, invited the head of the Milli Majlis Office to visit Kazakhstan.
Expressing satisfaction with his stay in Azerbaijan, Maxim Spotkay spoke about the historical friendly and fraternal relations between our countries, noted the special role of the Presidents of the countries in developing relations, the importance of cooperation between legislative bodies in deepening bilateral relations, the significance of exchanging experience and regular visits.
The meeting was attended by Deputy Heads of the Milli Majlis Office Yashar Amashov and Rustam Makhmudov.
Meetings were also held between representatives of the departments of state building, administrative and military legislation, economic legislation, social legislation, international relations and information resources and technologies of the Office of the Milli Majlis and members of the relevant departments represented in the delegation.
The meetings provided information on the functions, areas of activity, principles of work of the departments of parliament, their participation in legislative activities, the process of preparation, adoption and entry into force of bills, as well as international relations of the Milli Majlis of the 6th convocation and its successful parliamentary diplomacy, applied technological innovations and created electronic systems.
The delegation, headed by the Head of the Office of the Senate of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Maxim Spotkay, while in the Milli Majlis, also got acquainted with the administrative building of the parliament.
Having familiarized himself with the hall of the Plenary Session of the Parliament, Deputy Head of the Office of the Milli Majlis Rustam Makhmudov informed the guests about the working conditions created here for the deputies, the procedures for holding the plenary session of the Parliament.
Then, in the lobby of the administrative building of the parliament, the guests got acquainted with the "Victory Corner", created on the initiative of the Speaker of the Milli Majlis of the 6th convocation Sahiba Gafarova and dedicated to the victory in the 44-day Patriotic War under the leadership of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Supreme Commander-in-Chief Ilham Aliyev. It was noted that the names of Azerbaijani soldiers and officers who died during the war and became martyrs are carved in this "corner". The guests got acquainted with the orders and medals located in the "corner" and established in honor of the victory in the Patriotic War, and other information.
