  Paris 2024: Opening ceremony of Paralympic Games takes place

The opening ceremony of the 2024 Summer Paralympic Games in Paris took place, AzVision.az reports.

For the first time in the history of the Paralympic Games, the event was held outside the stadium.

The ceremony began at 22:00 Baku time on the famous Champs Elysees. The parade of participants ended at the Place de la Concorde in Paris, which is considered one of the Five Royal Squares.

About 6,000 athletes and officials from 184 delegations took part in the parade of the XVII Games. The Azerbaijani team took part in the eighth such competition in its history.

The flag of Azerbaijan was carried by para-taekwondo athlete Imamaddin Khalilov and para-athlete Lamiya Veliyeva. The opening, consisting of official and artistic parts, was watched by 65,000 spectators. 35 thousand tickets for paid seats were sold. Another 30 thousand spectators watched for free.
