Jeyhun Bayramov, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan, met Monday with Musalia Mudavadi, Prime Cabinet Secretary and Cabinet Secretary for Foreign and Diaspora Affairs of the Republic of Kenya, on the sidelines of the high-level week of the 79th session of the UN General Assembly.

During the meeting, the discussions revolved around the prospects of bilateral cooperation, as well as multilateral cooperation between Azerbaijan and Kenya.

Minister Jeyhun Bayramov hailed the current level of cooperation between the two countries within international organizations, especially the UN and the Non-Aligned Movement. Minister Bayramov expressed gratitude to Kenya for its support of the initiatives of Azerbaijan during the country’s chairmanship of the Non-Aligned Movement.

The parties also discussed the prospects for the development of political, economic and humanitarian relations between the two countries.

FM Bayramov underlined that the opening of the Embassy of Azerbaijan in Kenya made a significant contribution to the development of relations.

Minister Jeyhun Bayramov also touched on the prospects of advancing cooperation in combating climate change, providing insight into the preparations for the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29), scheduled to be hosted by Azerbaijan this November, as well as the prospects for cooperation in this context.

During the meeting, the discussions also focused on other regional and international issues of mutual interest.

The FMs then signed a Memorandum of Understanding on holding political consultations between Azerbaijan and Kenya.
