Azerbaijan, Council of Europe discuss bilateral and regional issues

Jeyhun Bayramov, Azerbaijan’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, met Tuesday with his Ukrainian counterpart Andrii Sybiha on the margins of the high-level week of the 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly.

During the meeting, the sides explored the cooperation across political, economic, energy, humanitarian domains between the two countries, including regional issues.

Minister Jeyhun Bayramov congratulated Andrii Sybiha on his appointment as the as the Ukrainian Minister of Foreign Affairs.

The FMs highlighted the significance of the steadfast position of both countries to demonstrate support for territorial integrity and sovereignty within the internationally recognized borders.

FM Andrii Sybiha hailed Azerbaijan’s humanitarian aid to Ukraine, including support for restoration and reconstruction works.

The FMs described the existing political dialogue between the two countries as one of the main factors contributing to the development of bilateral political and diplomatic ties.

The meeting also focused on new partnership opportunities within the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties (COP29) to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change.

FM Bayramov also informed his Ukrainian counterpart about the restoration and reconstruction works carried out in the liberated territories in the post-conflict period and the current state of the normalization process between Azerbaijan and Armenia.

The meeting also featured discussions on other bilateral and regional issues of mutual interest.
