Georgia hails the peace settlement process between Azerbaijan and Armenia, Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze said at the 79th session of the UN General Assembly in New York, AzVision.az reports.

He mentioned that Georgia, understanding the crucial role of peace, has taken the initiative to transform the post-conflict South Caucasus into a region of new opportunities.

The prime minister expressed his support for the peace settlement process between Armenia and Azerbaijan, particularly highlighting efforts to normalize relations with neighboring countries.

"We are ready to offer a regional cooperation format that will promote dialogue and strengthen trust between states to ensure that differences remain in the past," Kobakhidze emphasized.

To note, today in New York, a meeting is scheduled to take place between Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov and Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan, with the participation of US Secretary of State Antony Blinken.

On July 10 of this year, the foreign ministers of Azerbaijan and Armenia convened in Washington during the summit commemorating the 75th anniversary of NATO.

The parties agreed to continue working on a peace agreement then.

They highlighted the progress made by Azerbaijan and Armenia towards concluding a historic peace agreement and establishing interstate relations and agreed to continue working in this direction.
