Azerbaijani Prosecutor General Kamran Aliyev met with a delegation of the Supreme Court of Türkiye headed by Prosecutor General Muhsin Senturk, AzVision.az reports via the Prosecutor General's Office.
Meetings are held with delegations of international organizations and foreign states participating in the 29th annual conference of the International Association of Prosecutors (IAP) in Baku.
During the meeting with the Turkish delegation, Prosecutor General Kamran Aliyev stressed that Azerbaijani-Turkish friendship and brotherhood is an example for the countries of the world, drawing strength from common national, and moral values and traditions of our peoples, Azerbaijani-Turkish relations have risen to the level of strategic cooperation as a result of efforts of the heads of state and their far-sighted foreign policy.
Aliyev highlighted that the fight against crime is crucial for strengthening legality and the rule of law. He remarked that the Council of Prosecutors General from member states of the Turkic States Organization is creating new opportunities for mutually beneficial cooperation and is effectively addressing modern challenges through systematic approaches.
He also underscored the historical significance of the upcoming 29th session of the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change in Baku, presenting the guests with invitations to participate in a high-level plenary session titled "Mobilization of law enforcement bodies to strengthen the fight against climate change", scheduled for November 15 as part of COP29 by the Prosecutor General's Office of Azerbaijan jointly with the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime - UNODC.
Aliyev noted the strong connections established with Türkiye's prosecutorial authorities and discussed the importance of experience exchange and bilateral visits among prosecutors.
The Prosecutor General of the Supreme Court of Türkiye expressed gratitude for the warm reception and confidence that friendly relations between the parties will continue to develop successfully in all directions, highly valued the existing ties between the prosecutor's offices of the two brotherly countries.
The Turkish Ambassador to Azerbaijan, Jahit Bagci, also participated in the meeting.
The delegation's working visit to Azerbaijan is ongoing, according to the Prosecutor General's Office.
