United Nations Deputy Secretary-General Amina Mohammed is scheduled to visit Azerbaijan next week, as confirmed by the UN Secretary-General’s official representative, Stephane Dujarric.
Mohammed will participate in the pre-COP29 conference, taking place in Baku on October 10-11, AzVision.az reports via local media.
During her visit, she will meet with Azerbaijani government officials and delegations from various member states attending COP29. These discussions will focus on preparations for COP29 and include an exchange of views on key topics. Mohammed is expected to return to New York on October 11, Dujarric stated.
COP29 is set to take place in Azerbaijan this November, following a decision made during the COP28 plenary session in Dubai on December 11, 2023. Baku will host an estimated 70,000 to 80,000 international participants over the course of two weeks.
