  Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan develop their military ties

 Minister of Defense of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Colonel General Zakir Hasanov received the Commander of the Air Defense Forces and the Air Force of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Major General Akhmad Burkhanov, who's on a visit to Azerbaijan, AzVision.az reports.

The Defense Minister extended his greetings to the guest and expressed satisfaction with having him in Azerbaijan, highlighting that bilateral military cooperation between the 2 countries is based on friendly and fraternal relations.

Hasanov stressed the further development of military cooperation between Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan on the instructions of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces Ilham Aliyev, and spoke about the work implemented in this direction.

In his turn, Burkhanov expressed satisfaction with his visit to Azerbaijan, thanked for the warm welcome, and conveyed the greetings of the Minister of Defense of Uzbekistan to the Azerbaijani Defense Minister.

Then an official welcoming ceremony was held at the Central Command Post of the Air Force. Deputy Minister of Defense of the Republic of Azerbaijan – Commander of the Air Force Lieutenant General Namig Islamzade and his counterpart passed along the guard of honor.

The meeting between the commanders highlighted the importance of developing the exchange of experience in all fields, including military aviation and air defense of Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan, and mutual visits.

During the meeting, the sides exchanged views on prospects for cooperation between the two countries in the military sphere and various other issues of interest.

The Uzbek delegation received an extensive briefing on the activities conducted at the Central Command Point of the Air Force.
