A panel discussion themed "Decarbonizing and adapting the cotton-to-clothing value chain through multisectoral partnerships” was held as part of the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change.
Addressing the event, Azerbaijan’s Deputy Minister of Agriculture Sarvan Jafarov highlighted the sustainable development of the cotton growing sector in the country. He emphasized the importance of an approach based on science, technology and innovation to overcome the difficulties caused by climate change.
Jafarov underscored the researches and possibilities of use of nuclear technologies in creating new types of cotton within the projects implemented jointly with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).
The participants also exchanged views on international practices in mitigating the challenges caused by climate change.
