SOCAR starts natural gas supplies to ten schools and kindergartens in Bulgaria

The State Oil Company of the Republic of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) along with M-Gas company has started supplying natural gas to social consumers in Ruse province of Bulgaria.

“St. St. Cyril and Methodius" Primary School is a principal beneficiary of "hybrid gasification" pilot project, jointly implemented by SOCAR, M-Gas and Municipality of Ruse, with the State Oil Company of the Republic of Azerbaijan committed to supply the required amount of natural gas.

Murad Heydarov, head of SOCAR's regional office for the Balkans, Pencho Milkov, Mayor of Ruse, and Stoyan Manolov, Manager of "M-Gas" Ltd, attended the ceremony marking the completion of the construction of the compressed natural gas (CNG) station at the school.

It marks a continuation of fruitful partnership between SOCAR and M-Gas, which was established with the start of natural gas supplies to industrial enterprises in Bulgaria on June 21, 2024.

In the next few months, ten more schools and kindergartens in Ruse region are planned to receive natural gas from SOCAR. This project will contribute to reduce carbon emissions and energy costs in Ruse.

SOCAR, which supplies 50 percent of the country's gas consumption, is seeking to aims to increase its market share in the domestic distribution sector to approximately 7.5 percent.

SOCAR supports Bulgaria's climate protection strategy and efforts to reduce carbon emissions by gradually replacing traditional energy sources (such as fuel oil, lignite, and diesel) with more climate-friendly natural gas in several municipalities.
