  Azerbaijani, Turkish FMs discuss situation in Syria

Azerbaijan's Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov spoke on phone with his Turkish counterpart Hakan Fidan on Wednesday.

The sides discussed issues arising from the Azerbaijan-Türkiye alliance, the situation in the region in the post-conflict period, the current situation in the Middle East, especially in Syria, as well as other regional and international security issues, AzVision.az reports, citing the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry. 

"The parties exchanged views on the talks and discussions held within the framework of the 31st meeting of the OSCE Ministerial Council in Malta. Jeyhun Bayramov congratulated the Turkish side on the appointment of experienced Turkish diplomat Feridun Sinirlioğlu as Secretary General of the Organization during the 31st meeting of the OSCE Ministerial Council, noting that this great achievement was welcomed with great joy by our side. Best wishes were extended to OSCE Secretary General Sinirlioğlu in his responsible activities," the statement said.

The parties also discussed regional issues and the latest situation in Syria in detail.

They underlined Azerbaijan's support for Syria's territorial integrity and sovereignty and the hope for a quick resolution of the crisis situation based on the interests and will of the Syrian people.
