AMADA-hosted international conference kicks off in Baku

The opening ceremony of an international conference "Clean Victory: Rethinking the Olympic Year", organized by the Azerbaijan National Anti-Doping Agency (AMADA) with the support of the Ministry of Youth and Sports, was held in Baku.

Addressing the ceremony, Mariana Vasileva, Azerbaijan’s Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports, highlighted the importance of the conference in terms of sharing experiences in anti-doping efforts.

Noting that Azerbaijan is hosting a landmark event, Witold Bańka, President of the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA), who joined the conference online, underscored that the event would contribute to developing anti-doping policies across all sports in Azerbaijan and worldwide, building an easier anti-doping journey for athletes. The WADA President expressed confidence that they would achieve new accomplishments with joint activities. Witold Bańka also pointed out that the conference would be organized in South Korea in 2025, marking the first in the Asian country.

The other speakers highlighted anti-doping measures conducted in Azerbaijan.

The conference continued with sessions discussing key topics such as the outcomes of the Paris 2024 Summer Olympic Games, advancements and challenges in detecting doping, precision in doping control processes, achievements in Olympic anti-doping efforts, and the critical role of education and science in the fight against doping.

The conference then featured an exhibition of winning photographs from the international competition "The Olympic Spirit: Beyond Victory and Defeat," jointly organized by AMADA and the Gilavar Photo Club.

The primary objective of the conference is to advance expertise and knowledge in the field of anti-doping, promote scientific research, and strengthen awareness and efforts to combat doping among athletes and the broader sports community.

The Azerbaijan State News Agency (AZERTAC) serves as the official information partner for the international conference.
