  ICESCO praises Azerbaijan

Azerbaijan, known worldwide as a center of multiculturalism and a nation that has never experienced religious or ethnic conflicts, is commended for its initiatives contributing to interfaith and intercultural relations, Dr. Salim M. AlMalik, Director General of the Islamic World Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ICESCO) said, AzVision.az reports. 

He made the remark during a meeting with Ramin Mammadov, Chairman of the State Committee for Work with Religious Organizations of Azerbaijan, who is on a visit to Morocco.

AlMalik noted that the atmosphere of tolerance and care for multiculturalism and Islamic values in Azerbaijan has a significant impact on the development of relations with ICESCO.

Mammadov, in turn, provided detailed information about Azerbaijan's policy in strengthening interfaith and intercultural dialogue and Islamic solidarity, as well as the activities and policies implemented by the State Committee. He also expressed gratitude for ICESCO's support in conveying Azerbaijan's rightful position to the world.

The meeting highlighted the importance of the upcoming international conference titled "Interfaith Harmony: Promoting Peaceful Coexistence," to be held in Rabat, jointly organized by the State Committee, ICESCO, and the Embassy of Azerbaijan in Morocco. Other issues of mutual interest were also discussed.

Mammadov also met with Prof. Ahmed Abadi, Secretary-General of the Rabita Mohammadia of Ulema Association. He spoke about Azerbaijan's exemplary state-religion relations, interfaith harmony, and the successes achieved in the field of peaceful coexistence.

Mammadov also highlighted that under the leadership of President Ilham Aliyev, Azerbaijan's policy focuses on protecting freedom of religion, creating equal opportunities for all religious communities, and further strengthening traditions of tolerance and national-spiritual values.
