Azerbaijan’s “Shahdag” ferry returns to operation after repairs

The “Shahdag” ferry, part of ASCO’s Marine Transport Fleet, has been successfully repaired and returned to operation, AzVision.az reports, citing ASCO.

The repairs, conducted at the “Zigh” Ship Repair and Construction Plant, were completed promptly and to a high standard. The ferry’s main and auxiliary engines, pumps, and coolers underwent extensive maintenance. Additionally, work was performed on the auxiliary steam boiler and auxiliary boiler, alongside welding, pipe installation, automation, and electrical equipment repairs.

Upgrades included repairs to communication and electro-radio navigation systems, replacement of faulty spare parts, and the installation of modern speed-measuring log navigation equipment. The vessel’s superstructure was also cleaned and repainted, while the sailors’ living and service quarters were renovated to meet contemporary standards.

Following successful sea trials, the “Shahdag” ferry resumed its role in cargo transportation along the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route. Its first voyage was from the Alat Port to the Kuryk Port.

The vessel measures 154.50 meters in length, 18.3 meters in width, and has a maximum speed of 12.5 knots.
