Russia's Investigative Committee orders comprehensive forensic examination of AZAL plane crash case

The Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation has ordered a comprehensive commission forensic examination regarding the crash of Azerbaijan Airlines (AZAL) aircraft near Aktau, Kazakhstan, according to the official representative of the Russian Investigative Committee, Svetlana Petrenko, AzVision.az reports citing the Russian media.

"A comprehensive commission organizational and technical forensic examination has been ordered to evaluate the actions of air traffic control officials, air traffic and air defense management system," she said.

She noted that investigators are examining all possible causes of the tragedy.

"Communications between air traffic controllers in Grozny, Makhachkala, and Mineralnye Vody with the aircraft commander are being analyzed. A comprehensive aviation technical examination has been ordered," Petrenko noted.

She noted that the condition of all aircraft systems and physical evidence are being studied.

"The investigation has established cooperation with the competent authorities of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Republic of Kazakhstan. In collaboration with specialists from the Interstate Aviation Committee, data from the aircraft's flight recorders obtained from the Brazilian Aviation Accident Investigation and Prevention Center (SENIPA) is being studied," said the representative of the Investigative Committee.
