Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry summons Iranian charge d

The Chargé d'Affaires of the Iranian Embassy in Azerbaijan, Seyed Jafar Aghaei Maryan, was summoned to Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

During the meeting, protest was expressed against the open campaign against Azerbaijan and its leadership in Iranian media outlets close to government circles in recent times, AzVision.az reports, citing the Foreign Ministry.

It was particularly noted that the groundless protest expressed to Azerbaijan's ambassador in Iran, who was summoned to the Iranian MFA, and the expansion of the campaign in the Iranian press amid the 16th session of the "State Commission on Economic, Trade and Humanitarian Cooperation between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Islamic Republic of Iran" held in Tehran after a long break and productive official meetings are confusing.

It was noted that instead of Imam Juma Seyid Hassan Ameli apologizing for the insulting statements made against Azerbaijan during the meeting in Ardabil, conducting a campaign supporting Ameli, and the participation of several religious figures, including the Imam of Gazvin Friday prayer, in anti-Azerbaijan activities is unacceptable.

It was emphasized that such steps are aimed at damaging relations between the two countries, and it is necessary to prevent them.

Iran's charge d'affaires expressed regret over some unpleasant statements and actions and promised to convey the matter to his country's relevant authorities.
