  Azerbaijan, Qatar hold another round of political consultations

Azerbaijani Deputy Foreign Minister Yalchin Rafiyev visited Qatar on January 26. 

During the visit, the 5th meeting of political consultations between the Foreign Ministries of Azerbaijan and Qatar took place. The consultations were chaired by Deputy Foreign Minister Yalchin Rafiyev from Azerbaijan and Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Sultan bin Saad Al Mureykhi from Qatar, AzVision.az reports, citing the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry. 

The discussions covered bilateral political and economic issues, cooperation within the UN, the Non-Aligned Movement, and other international organizations. The parties also exchanged views on various regional and global issues of common interest. They explored potential collaborations in sectors such as trade, investment, agriculture, tourism, and education, along with other areas of mutual interest.

Additionally, Deputy Minister Rafiyev met with Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Sayed, Minister of State for Foreign Trade of Qatar. The sides emphasized the importance of holding the next meeting of the Intergovernmental Joint Commission between Azerbaijan and Qatar as soon as possible, as well as organizing mutual trade missions and business forums.

During his visit to Doha, Rafiyev also visited the Center for Conflict and Humanitarian Studies (CHS), where he met with the Director, Ghassan Elkahlout, and other experts. They discussed Azerbaijan's foreign policy and the events occurring in the South Caucasus and the Middle East.

Furthermore, Rafiyev met with the leadership, faculty, and students of the Center for International and Regional Studies (CIRC) at Georgetown University in Qatar. He informed the audience about Azerbaijan's foreign policy priorities, regional and global issues, the post-conflict Armenia-Azerbaijan period, the normalization process, and the restoration and reconstruction efforts in the liberated territories of Azerbaijan. He also answered participants' questions.
