Georgia has expressed its readiness to mediate in the ongoing peace process between Armenia and Azerbaijan.
At a press conference in Yerevan with Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan, Georgian Foreign Minister Maka Bochorishvili reaffirmed Georgia's willingness to facilitate peace efforts, AzVision.az reports citing Georgian media outlets.
"I would like to note that Georgia wants to be a real facilitator for strengthening peace and stability in the region. And unequivocally, we will express readiness to facilitate the peace process that is going on between our neighbouring countries," Bochorishvili stated.
She further emphasized the importance of a peace treaty that reflects the interests of both Armenia and Azerbaijan, adding that this is the only way to ensure lasting stability in the region.
Earlier, Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze confirmed Tbilisi's intent to play the role of moderator in negotiations between Armenia and Azerbaijan.
