Azerbaijan’s Deputy Foreign Minister Yalchin Rafiyev participated in the First High-Level Committee (HLC) Meeting of ECO Deputy Foreign Ministers in Tehran.
The committee discussed key organizational reforms, including financial and budgetary matters, improving the efficiency of the Secretariat, and refining recruitment policies. It also explored strategies to enhance the organization’s operational framework and effectiveness in addressing regional challenges.
The committee's efforts will be instrumental in shaping the Economic Cooperation Organization's (ECO) strategic document for the next decade, which will be reviewed at the 17th ECO Summit to be hosted by Azerbaijan this year.
In his address, Yalchin Rafiyev outlined Azerbaijan’s position on ECO reforms and future regional cooperation. He expressed confidence that the ECO Vision 2035 document would serve as a catalyst for effectively addressing regional challenges and strengthening collaboration among member states.
During his visit, Rafiyev also held consultations on multilateral cooperation with Asad Majeed Khan, Secretary General of ECO, Sayed Rasool Mohajer, Deputy Foreign Minister of Iran, and his counterparts from other member states.
