  Ilham Aliyev approves document on cooperation in tourism between Azerbaijan, Turkiye

The "Agreement on Cooperation in the Field of Tourism between the Government of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Government of the Republic of Türkiye," signed in Baku on November 15, 2024, has been officially approved, AzVision.az reports.

President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev signed a decree confirming the agreement.

Under the decree, following the activation of the agreement, Azerbaijan’s State Tourism Agency is tasked with ensuring the implementation of its provisions.

Additionally, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan is required to notify the government of Türkiye that all necessary internal procedures for the agreement’s entry into force have been completed.

To note, on November 15 of last year, an agreement was signed between Azerbaijan and Türkiye aimed at strengthening cooperation in the field of tourism and developing tourist relations. On behalf of Azerbaijan, the document was signed by the Chairman of the State Tourism Agency Fuad Naghiyev, and on behalf of Türkiye - by the Minister of Culture and Tourism Mehmet Nuri Ersoy.

The agreement pays special attention to the exchange of information in hospitality, tourism, and legislation, improving tourist statistics, gastronomic tourism, cooperation in tourism education, as well as the foundations for encouraging investments.

The agreement also covers topics such as organizing media tours, info tours, events, and seminars, developing joint tourist routes, mutual promotion, and marketing activities to increase tourist flows, as well as joint efforts to protect and promote natural and cultural heritage.
