Azerbaijan and Georgia are in talks about creating a joint venture to operate the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway, said Levan Davitashvili, Georgia’s Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development, AzVision.az reports.
He made this statement during a meeting with Azerbaijan’s Minister of Digital Development and Transport Rashad Nabiyev.
"Transport cooperation is one of the key areas of economic collaboration between Georgia and Azerbaijan, which is why we meet every year to discuss our plans. Today, during our meeting, we discussed the final phase of the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway project, which will be completed and put into operation this year.
We also talked about setting up a joint venture between Georgia and Azerbaijan to operate the railway. This will allow us to better utilize the infrastructure and attract more cargo," said Davitashvili.
The discussion also included the growing importance of the Middle Corridor and measures being implemented with the active participation of both countries to boost its competitiveness and attract more cargo.
