Khojaly genocide victims commemorated in Sweden

The Azerbaijani Embassy in Sweden has arranged a commemorative event marking the 33rd anniversary of the Khojaly genocide at the square named after the Swedish diplomat Raoul Wallenberg in Stockholm, AzVision.az reports.

Addressing the event, Azerbaijani Ambassador to the Kingdom of Sweden Zaur Ahmadov described the Khojaly genocide as one of the most vicious crimes against humanity. The diplomat noted that the tragedy, which resulted in slaughtering of 613 innocent Azerbaijani citizens, is recognized as a genocide by dozens of countries worldwide.

“Thanks to the heroism of the victorious Azerbaijani Army, the blood of the Khojaly martyrs did not remain on the ground. Under the leadership of President, Victorious Supreme Commander-in-Chief Ilham Aliyev, the Azerbaijani Army restored the country’s territorial integrity, and thanks to this historic victory, the Azerbaijani people will step more confidently towards the future,” the ambassador emphasized.

Then, the event participants laid a wreath in front of the memorial and placed flowers on the stone monuments commemorating the victims of the tragedy.
