Work is underway to restore rights of Azerbaijanis who lived as refugees - Ombudsman

The restoration of the rights of hundreds of thousands of people violated as a result of Armenia's long-term policy of ethnic cleansing and hatred against Azerbaijanis is of great importance in terms of respect for the norms and principles of international law and international humanitarian law, Azerbaijani Ombudsman Sabina Aliyeva told a Milli Majlis session on Friday, AzVision.az reports.

Aliyeva noted that the Ombudsman's office has carried out extensive activities to restore the violated rights and freedoms of Azerbaijanis who were forcibly expelled from their ancestral lands at various times and forced to live as refugees, and this issue has been constantly raised before relevant international organizations:

"After the restoration of the territorial integrity and sovereignty of our country, information about Armenia's mine terrorism that poses a serious threat to human rights has been brought to the attention of the international community many times during the year by the Ombudsman, and the indifferent attitude of some international organizations to these calls has been assessed as a clear manifestation of double standards towards our country."
