Mexican newspaper highlights new avenues in Azerbaijan-Mexico ties

An interview with Azerbaijan's Ambassador to Mexico, Mammad Talibov, titled "The Main Goal is to Bring Mexico and Azerbaijan Closer," has been published in the Mexican newspaper "El Economista."

The article was authored by journalist Perla Pineda, AzVision.az reports.

According to the Embassy, the interview explores opportunities to strengthen Mexico-Azerbaijan ties and the prospects for cooperation in economy, energy, and tourism.

Azerbaijan expressed its readiness to share its experience in transitioning to green energy and accessing new markets. The country also aims to deepen its engagement with Mexico in investment and trade, citing common ground in multilateral relations, human rights, and cultural exchange.

The interview emphasized that a key objective of the Azerbaijani embassy is to foster mutual interests between the business communities of both nations, particularly in light of Mexico's drive to diversify its economy and expand its global reach. The ambassador noted that this could create opportunities for the involvement of major companies and Mexican producers in the region. According to the ambassador, Azerbaijan's leadership in global economic projects within the energy and transportation sectors has contributed to an improved socio-economic climate domestically.

Talibov highlighted that Azerbaijan's strong regional connections and its role as a transportation hub offer a gateway for Mexican companies to Central Asia, Europe, Turkiye, and other markets. Furthermore, opportunities exist for mutual exchange in agriculture and technology.

The article underscored Azerbaijan's growing regional leadership in renewable energy. Memoranda of understanding have been signed with several EU countries, and a project to export Azerbaijan's green energy to Europe is underway. The country also possesses significant potential in wind and solar power.

Addressing tourism cooperation, the diplomat acknowledged an increase in tourism flow between the two countries, though it has yet to reach substantial levels. He noted the availability of a straightforward electronic visa system for Mexicans, who can enjoy safe and comfortable travel in Azerbaijan.
