Azerbaijan’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Jeyhun Bayramov, met with Ahmed Metani, the newly appointed Ambassador of the State of Palestine, on Tuesday in Baku.
Ambassador Metani presented a copy of his credentials to Minister Bayramov, who welcomed him and wished success in his diplomatic mission.
The meeting focused on enhancing bilateral and multilateral cooperation between Azerbaijan and Palestine. Discussions covered a wide range of issues, including political, economic, cultural, and humanitarian collaboration, as well as the potential for stronger engagement within regional and international organizations such as the United Nations and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation.
Minister Bayramov and Ambassador Metani also exchanged views on the security situation in the Middle East, particularly in Gaza. Bayramov stressed the importance of maintaining the ceasefire, addressing urgent humanitarian needs, and reaffirmed Azerbaijan’s support for a peaceful resolution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict based on a two-state solution and relevant UN Security Council resolutions.
Ambassador Metani expressed gratitude for Azerbaijan’s humanitarian support to the Palestinian people and voiced his commitment to further strengthening bilateral ties.
Minister Bayramov also briefed the ambassador on the post-conflict situation in the South Caucasus, highlighting Azerbaijan’s large-scale reconstruction efforts, demining initiatives, and progress in the peace process with Armenia.
Concluding the meeting, Ambassador Metani expressed his appreciation for the warm reception and affirmed his dedication to enhancing Azerbaijani-Palestinian cooperation in all areas.
