National Leader Heydar Aliyev's 102nd anniversary celebrated in London

The Azerbaijani Embassy in the United Kingdom on Saturday hosted an event marking the 102nd anniversary of Azerbaijan’s National Leader Heydar Aliyev.

The event, which brought together representatives of the Azerbaijani community, students and diaspora activists living in the UK, featured folk and composer songs performed by Honored Culture Worker, famous tar player Rafig Rustamov, accompanied by Malik Tabrizli on the drum.

Addressing the event, Elin Suleymanov, Azerbaijani Ambassador to the UK, said that National Leader Heydar Aliyev always treated the Azerbaijani music, as well as artists and musicologists, with admiration and care, recalling his special sympathy for tar and tar music.

Noting that the Aghdam Mugham Center was inaugurated with the participation of President Ilham Aliyev on May 10, the Azerbaijani ambassador highlighted the symbolic importance of celebrating National Leader Heydar Aliyev’s 102nd anniversary in London under the sounds of tar performed by an artist hailing from Aghdam.

Elin Suleymanov emphasized that National Leader Heydar Aliyev laid the foundation of statehood traditions, playing an exceptional role in building modern Azerbaijan on solid foundations, and strengthening its international reputation. The diplomat mentioned that Heydar Aliyev’s legacy of visionary leadership is being successfully continued by President Ilham Aliyev, and Azerbaijan is recognized as a powerful nation in the region and on the international scene.
