An event was held at AzTV to mark the inclusion of the "Chess Club" program, hosted by the living legend of Azerbaijani chess and international arbiter Faig Hasanov, in the Guinness World Records as the longest-running sports TV program with the same host.
Guinness World Records official Sheyda Subashi confirmed that all the submitted information had been thoroughly reviewed and met the criteria required for the record. She then presented the Guinness World Records certificate to Faig Hasanov.
In their remarks, Azerbaijan’s Minister of Youth and Sports Farid Gayibov, Chairman of Azerbaijan Television and Radio Broadcasting CJSC Rovshan Mammadov, and President of the Azerbaijan Chess Federation Mahir Mammadov spoke about the international arbiter's contributions to chess and emphasized his pivotal role in nurturing a new generation of young chess players.
Following the official ceremony, the film “The Arbiter of the Pieces”, dedicated to Faig Hasanov’s life and career, was screened.
The “Chess Club” program has been airing on Azerbaijan Television since March 27, 1969.
Last month, Faig Hasanov was awarded a special diploma as the record holder for the longest-serving male chess arbiter.
