Anar Alakbarov, Executive Director of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, met with Yang Wanming, President of the CPAFFC, to discuss the development of intergovernmental and people-to-people relations. The meeting highlighted the strengthening partnership between the two institutions.
Yang Wanming recalled his meeting with President Ilham Aliyev in Baku last year, commending Azerbaijan’s progress and attributing it to the visionary leadership of National Leader Heydar Aliyev and President Ilham Aliyev.
Alakbarov expressed the Foundation’s strong interest in expanding joint initiatives, including the organization of youth forums across different regions of Azerbaijan. He also emphasized that the “Joint Statement on the Establishment of a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the People's Republic of China,” signed during President Ilham Aliyev’s state visit to Beijing, provides strong support for deepening institutional ties.
The sides noted the Heydar Aliyev Foundation’s significant role, under the leadership of First Vice-President Mehriban Aliyeva, in fostering bilateral relations. They recalled several joint events held under the 2017 Memorandum of Friendship and Cooperation between the Foundation and the CPAFFC, including the celebration of the 100th anniversary of National Leader Heydar Aliyev in 2023 and various cultural, educational, and youth-focused initiatives.
Future collaboration in education, tourism, and youth development was also discussed. The participation of Azerbaijani youth in an upcoming Youth Forum in China this July was among the agreed initiatives.
In recognition of the Foundation’s outstanding contributions to China-Azerbaijan relations, Anar Alakbarov was awarded the title of “Ambassador of Peoples’ Friendship.”
The visit also includes several meetings with Chinese state officials.
